Megha’s career in education began in college as an AmeriCorps member as a literacy teacher who loved tapping into the imagination of young scholars through reading. She later worked at the Louisiana Department of Education, where she helped create better accountability structures for schools, increased funding for classroom resources, and expanded access to high-quality schools for families across the state.

She has taken pauses in her career in education to also work in public health and on political campaigns. She worked on the 2020 presidential election cycle for then-U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris and Sen. Elizabeth Warren. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Megha used her public health background to partner with school districts to safely reopen schools and prevent outbreaks so students could get back to uninterrupted learning.

Access to high-quality education early in Megha’s life had a profound impact on who she’s become as an adult, the way she thinks, and the way she cares for her community. Megha works to remove barriers to access, challenge norms, and create systems that allow every child to succeed.

Education
Megha earned a bachelor’s degree in child development & human sciences from the University of Texas at Austin and master’s degrees in pharmacology and public health from Tulane University.
